New Albany, Ohio has seen tremendous growth over the last few decades. Since 2000, the population has more than doubled. New residents have been coming to the area to enjoy the advantages of living in this affluent suburb of Columbus. Located in Franklin and Licking counties, the area that would become New Albany was first developed in the 1930s by Nobel Landon and William Yantis. The city of New Albany is located to the northeast of Columbus. It is found at the headwaters of Rocky Fork Creek, and the Blacklick Creek cuts through the city to the east. 

Shopping and Dining

Market Square offers a variety of restaurants and shops, making it a great place for shopping in New Albany. Nearby shopping centers include Easton Town Center in Columbus and The Mall at Tuttle Crossing in Dublin. For groceries, residents of New Albany real estate can head to the Giant Eagle located on New Albany Road or the Kroger supermarket located on Hampsted Village Center Way. A CVS pharmacy is located on West Main Street in New Albany. 

Fine dining destinations in New Albany include Ella on East Main Street, Plate on South High Street, and Rosa & Rocco's on New Albany Road. Those in the mood for Asian cuisine can head to Asian Taste on New Albany Road or Chi Thai on North Hamilton Road in Columbus. Blue Agave on Johnstown Road offers Mexican cuisine. For fast food, New Albany residents can get a quick bite to eat at McDonalds on New Albany Road. 

Parks and Recreation

New Albany features more than 600 acres of public green space for walking and enjoying nature. Two prominent parks around New Albany include Rose Run Park along East Dublin Granville Road and Swickard Woods to the northwest. The Wexner Park and Pavilion area offers a playground that's ideal for New Albany families with young children. Larger natural areas located near the New Albany community offer opportunities for hiking, biking, and fishing. The Blendon Woods Metropolitan Park is located about 12 minutes to the west of New Albany, and Bevelheymer Park is seven minutes to the northeast. 

Surrounded by golf courses, the community of New Albany is ideal for golf enthusiasts. Three golf courses are located to the south and east of New Albany: the New Albany Country Club, The Golf Club, and the Winding Hollow Golf & Event Center. The McCoy Community Center is another recreational attraction for residents of New Albany real estate. The McCoy Community Center offers theatre, dance, and music resources and educational opportunities. 


Among all of the communities in Ohio, New Albany ranks 12th highest in terms of per capita income. Median household income in New Albany is well over $100,000 more than in the entire state of Ohio overall, and the median home value in New Albany is over $300,000 more than in the rest of the state. As of 2012, New Albany had a population of about 8,500. Although incomes are quite high in New Albany, the cost of living is roughly in line with the average for the rest of the United States. Residents of New Albany real estate typically enjoy spaciousness and tranquility. The community has a relatively low population density. 

Schools, Health, and Transportation

The New Albany High School on Fodor Road is the main public high school for young students residing in New Albany real estate. this school is run by the New Albany-Plain Local School District. This school had to be expanded in the mid-90s to keep up with population growth, and it has been highly praised by the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program for the quality of education it offers. Younger students can attend public school at the New Albany Middle School or the New Albany Elementary Schools. The Columbus Jewish Day School and the New Albany Montessori School are two private schools found in New Albany. For university studies, Otterbein College is located about seven miles away in Westerville and Ohio Dominican University is around 10 miles in Columbus. 

Mount Carmel New Albany Surgical Hospital on Smith's Mill Road is the most prominent healthcare institution in New Albany. Other hospitals located near New Albany include the Ohio State University Medical Center, which is located on West 9th Avenue in Columbus.

When traveling outside of the Columbus area, residents of New Albany real estate will typically rely on Amtrak services or head to one of the two major airports in the Columbus area. The Amtrak station in Columbus is located at 111 East Town Street, and the two airports servicing the area are the Port Columbus International Airport and the Rickenbacker International Airport
